How Hollywood Screwed Over a Generation of Men

As I’ve aged, one truth has become abundantly clear: while growing older comes with its share of downsides, it also brings wisdom and perspective.

One realization I’ve had recently is how much the movies of my youth shaped me into the man I am today.

Movies like Swingers, American Pie, and Wedding Crashers provided invaluable lessons on navigating relationships, building confidence, and understanding women.

Sadly, such movies are almost extinct today, and this absence is affecting an entire generation of men.

These films didn’t just entertain; they taught men how to take risks, embrace failure, and grow.

They offered relatable characters who struggled, stumbled, and eventually succeeded, showing that it’s okay to fail on the path to growth.

For many of us, these movies filled the gap left by parents or peers who didn’t know how to offer advice.

Why aren’t these movies being made anymore?

It could be a shift in cultural norms, the rise of online dating, or changing Hollywood trends.

Whatever the reason, the lack of these stories leaves young men without a blueprint.

And the results are clear: men today are having fewer relationships and sexual experiences than previous generations did.

If these movies aren’t being produced, what can we do?

First, revisit these classics—they still hold valuable lessons. Second, seek out real-life examples, such as infield footage.

Finally, take action.

The most important movie is the one you create in your own life.

These films inspired me to approach women with confidence, and they can do the same for you.

Watch them, learn from them, and most importantly, start living your own story.
