When most guys run out of things to say, they panic. They get awkward. They eject.
But here’s the truth: that dead moment . . . it’s your greatest opportunity.
Why?

Because when she’s not leading the interaction and there’s silence, she’ll follow your lead. You get to insert any topic you want—and if you’re smart, you’ll choose one that moves the interaction forward.
This is when you can drop a canned line that builds premise. Or flip it into an evaluation. Or shift into narrative. That lull isn’t a failure—it’s a pivot point. Use it.
Say something like:
“You know what surprises me about you?”
“I can’t decide if I love you or hate you.”
“Can I ask you something kind of personal?”
Now you’re back in control. You’re steering the frame. You’re injecting intrigue.
You don’t have to be a genius. You just need a few canned lines in your back pocket that fit each category—premise, evaluation, narrative.
Practice them. Deliver them smoothly. And when the energy dips, throw one out and keep moving.
The mistake most guys make is thinking they need to be endlessly interesting.
You don’t. You just need to direct the conversation.
And that direction comes easiest when the path is clear—and silence clears the path.
So don’t fear the dead spots.
Own them.
And use them to take the set exactly where you want it to go.
